How to add and change mobile number in Aadhaar card

All individuals should keep the mobile number in Aadhaar card updated at all times. The Aadhaar card is a 12-digit unique identity number given to all citizens of India. Issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) the Aadhaar card contain’s the individual biometric and geographical information, including their name, address, and phone number.

How to add mobile number to Aadhaar card

Too add your mobile number to your Aadhaar card, you should undergo the following steps:

  • Go to the website of your telecom operator, such as Vodafone, AirTel, Jio, etc.
  • Enter your mobile number
  • You will receive an OTP in your registered mobile number. Click on that and press “Submit.”
  • You will see the permission notice on your screen.

How to change mobile number in Aadhaar card

You can link your Aadhaar card and mobile number by undergoing the following steps:

  • Go to
  • Enter the mobile number you wish to update and enter the captcha
  • Enter the OTP sent to your device
  • Select on “Submit OTP and Proceed” to update your mobile number.

Why is it necessary to do so?

By linking your Aadhaar with your mobile number, you are giving legitimate proof to the government that you are a bona fide citizen of the country.

You only need to enroll for the Aadhar card once, following which the number will get assigned to you, and will remain yours, regardless of how many times you apply for a new card. If you ever change your place of residence, it is advised that you apply for a new card, since keeping all your information updated is always recommended.
