Blackpink Eclipses BTS, Justin Bieber to Reach Massive Milestone in Global Appeal

K-pop band Blackpink is often considered a pioneer in making K-pop a global phenomenon. Whether they are the pioneers or not is a debate for another day but what we simply cannot deny anymore is just how popular and loved BP is across the globe.

Blackpink’s channel recently surpassed 73 million subscribers on YouTube, which is proof enough of their appeal. All this despite the fact that the band has been on hiatus for quite a while now.

In comparison, BTS has 64.8 million, Justin Bieber boasts of 68 million and Ed Sheeran has 51.4 million subscribers on the platform.

Blackpink is killing it…despite the hiatus!

With this amazing milestone, the female K-pop band has eclipsed the likes of BTS, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and Marshmello.

And to put matters into perspective, K-pop bands don’t rely on YouTube as much as global artists usually do.

In Korea, you will find a lot of other platforms that take precedence over YouTube when it comes to consuming music.

So it’s safe to say, not all Korean fans necessarily hop on YouTube and subscribe to their band’s channel and despite all this, BlackPink has managed to overshadow some of the biggest names in the music industry.

If you read up on the Korean music at all, you’ll have heard the phrase ‘Blackpink paved the way‘ and even ‘BTS paved the way‘.

While we will leave this debate up to you, the readers, Blackpink is certainly continuing its march towards being one of the biggest bands in the world, let alone one of the biggest K-pop bands.

Moreover, with a comeback scheduled for some time this year (perhaps even in the coming weeks as this suggests) you can expect the band’s popularity and the interest around it to only increase exponentially.

Keep an eye out on their YouTube channel in the coming weeks and expect to see a surge again.
